Filipinos are known to extend help beyond their immediate family members.
Most common is assistance for education. We all know for a fact that this is very important and definitely will get a person a better chance landing a job.
Another one is financial assistance to help them work abroad. Greener pasture is always better.
We know that by helping our relatives would provide better future for them. And once they have achieved their goal, they will be capable of doing the same. Helping is a chain reaction that never stops.
At some point there will be two of you and later there will be three and four and five and so on that extends help beyond the immediate family member.
And having their own business will surely help no doubt.
